A month ago, I suggested to someone in Whole Foods that their Black Russian Rye should be renamed Black Ukrainian Rye. Today, I found that it was not labeled with the old name, but is now known as Poppy Seed Rye. That’s good enough for me.

I will also mention that, while cherry blossom season is past, there are other flowers, both growing from the ground, and on trees.
When I was in Whole Foods Saturday, Mr. E spotted me; he was my supervisor for a while many years ago, and after that, I occasionally consulted with him, or had Appeal Conferences where he was one of the people deciding whether I should write an Examiner’s Answer, and go to the Board of Appeals. Furthermore, he very kindly drove me home from the hospital when I had my colonoscopy. So we chatted a bit, and he told me that after he retired from the Patent Office, he came back for a while, because with the pandemic, he couldn’t travel. I had been aware of his returning after retirement, although not of his reason.

On my way out, I stopped at Customer Service, and suggested that one of their breads, Black Russian Rye, should be renamed Black Ukrainian Rye. The lady with whom I spoke said that that was the vendor’s decision, not theirs, but that she would pass the suggestion on.
