My sister called to wish me a happy birthday, and we got to reminiscing about older times. I told her that I had made a donation to the Robert Schalkenbach Foundation to have the reading room in their Georgist library in Princeton be the Francoise Rosen Reading Room, after my mother. My sister was pleased, and spoke of sharing memories and possibly writing some family history. My father was a distinguished professor of philosophy, and my mother was a faculty wife and hostess, so they met quite a few well-known people over the years, and traveled to various countries, when my father was on sabbatical or retired.

We may try to hold a get-together at the Schalkenbach library in a few months, the pandemic permitting.
I’m in the Philadelphia suburbs with my sister. My niece is under the weather, unfortunately, but we did talk a little last night. The junior of my sister’s two cats has rubbed against me, sat in my lap, and let me pet her, which is sweet, even though she has also nipped me for petting her when she was no longer in the mood to be petted. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, who lives with my former brother-in-law, has come over and greeted me; she also seemed to enjoy the treat I brought her all the way from Arlington, or at least some of it; she will be given more later. She’s a nice dog, but she is a bit overweight these days.
