Ethiopian Sidamo
Jun. 12th, 2018 12:24 amThe Concessions shop in the USPTO campus offers Ethiopian Sidamo coffee, but mostly I’ve refrained fr9m drinking it. On the one hand, boosting demand for it might help enrich some poor people in Ethiopia; on the other hand, Ethiopia’s authoritarian government was presumably collecting taxes on the stuff. Then the Washington Post’s Monday editorial praised the government of Ethiopia, under its new president, for freeing political prisoners, and otherwise taking steps toward liberalization, so I made a point of drinking some Ethiopian Sidamo, mixed with my usual Hawaiian Hazelnut.
Perhaps some of us will want to immigrate to a freer Ethiopia, if Trumpism and the left’s response to it bring an end to America’s experiment in liberal democracy.
