ndrosenI didn't have to go into work this morning, so I began work on my tax returns. My parents' lawyers sent me a K-1 form, which required upgrading from TurboTax Deluxe to TurboTax Premiere; I entered some of the information, but then I lost the connection, or something. Also, I need another form that I can't find, so I left a message for my broker, and will call again tomorrow (I didn't have a broker until I inherited a third of my parents' investments).
I became an advocate of land value taxation on other grounds, but the sheer complexity of defining what qualifies as income for whom, and what is deductible, and then of filing returns when one's finances get at all complicated, provide one good argument for a radically different system.
Anyway, I then did go to the Patnet Office in the afternoon.
