According to an article in Slate, the Wrinkle in Time movie has a number of changes from the book, listed in some detail. I can see that there might be reasons to make some changes in attempting to translate from text to moving images, but I am not pleased that the movie makers seem to have warped l'Engle's artistic and moral vision in ways that the change in medium did not require. I do not plan to see the movie.

I mentioned this to a friend of mine, who said that in the movie, Meg is as tall as Calvin.

"Calvin the basketball player?" I asked. (It's been a while since I last read the book.)

She confirmed it.

Harrumph.

Speaking as a woman who spent a lot of her schoolgirl years at least as tall as the tallest boys in her class, I don't see a problem with that.

I don't remember noticing it in the film, though.
