Will Quotes George
Jan. 28th, 2018 04:53 pmThe Sunday Washington Post published a column by George F. Will, "Protectionism as fake patriotism," in which Will excoriated the corporate interests who pursue protection for themselves at the cost of their fellow Americans, and pretend that it's patriotic. The last sentence of the column states, "As Henry George said, with protectionism a nation does to itself in peacetime what an enemy tries to do it in war."
I do not recall the erudite Mr. Will having quoted George before; I do know that he has turned his formidable wit on protectionism before, although, decades ago, he used to sneer at free trade. Possibly we may see more Georgist wisdom in his columns.
