Bethel Cafe

I have found an Ethiopian restaurant, the Bethel Cafe, maybe three quarters of a mile from my apartment. I ate dinner there Saturday, and enjoyed my meal pretty well: assorted vegetable dishes on an injera, with another injera to scoop up the food. I suspect that the spiciness was toned down a bit from what Ethiopians in Ethiopia would eat, but the food did have flavor.

It’s been a couple of years since I ate Ethiopian food, and although this isn’t what I would want to eat every day, it did make a nice change from what I cook for myself.

13 years ago we were in Denver, I was getting worked-up at Nat'l Jewish Medical, a great place for immune and respiratory problems. We have like 2 hours between morning and afternoon appointments and had no idea where to go for lunch. So out comes Yelp. I told it to sort by rating, and #1 on the list was an Ethiopian restaurant less than a mile away that had a 4.9 rating with over 900 reviews, IIRC.

The food was excellent, and definitely on the spicy side. I don't recall what we had off-hand, but we enjoyed it. Our first experience with Ethiopian food.
