ndrosenA few years ago, Mona Charen wrote a column titled, “J.D. Vance Joins the Jackals.” He isn’t stupid, and he saw through Dishonest Donald, whom he described as “cultural heroin” in a piece for The Atlantic, published on July 4, 2016, so it is hard to escape the conclusion that Mr. Vance has joined what he knows to be the wrong side in service to his political ambitions.
Senator Vance is a Catholic convert, and a man of some culture, so he may well have read or seen Thomas Bolt’s A Man for All Seasons. I picture Saint Thomas More saying, “It profits a man nothing to gain the whole world and lose his own soul. But for the vice-presidency?”
