I’m on an Amtrak train headed back to Washington DC, from which I will return to my apartment in Arlington. I put in some time manning the CSE table at the Virginia Municipal League meeting in Norfolk, and otherwise interacting with mayors, town managers, town councilmen, a couple of police officers, fellow exhibitors, and other hangers on. Also, of course, I was able to renew my friendship with Joshua Vincent, to whom I played second fiddle, as he does this kind of thing as a full-time job, while I only occasionally tell people about Georgist tax reform face-to-face, or get into the nitty-gritty of state law, and what cities can do.

Yesterday, the two of us spent an hour with an interested and interesting person, Thomas Hall, Professor of Finance and Economics at Christopher Newport University. He provoked us to laughter with phrase he used, “Where Pareto optimality meets your Overton window.”
