Banning Foreign Homeownership in Canada

Some Frenchman said that anti-Semitism is the socialism of fools; I regard restrictions on the ownership of houses by foreigners, or other attempts to limit the ownership of land to the right sort of people, as the Georgism of those who have not thought the matter through systematically. If land value taxation were implemented, and unreasonable restrictions on construction were removed, Canadians would have little reason to fear the purchase of homes by foreigners. Those foreigners would pay for the value of the Canadian soil they were occupying, and the removal of one house from the market would likely result in construction workers being paid to erect another.
Unfortunately, Justin Trudeau and most of his crew are not Georgists, and are probably not very familiar with Georgist analysis. Chrystia Freeland at least ought to be, since her father, whom I have met several times, is a Georgist and a Canadian farmer, but instead of coming out for land value taxation, she says that Canada will make sure that homes are not treated as commodities to be traded.
