D-Day

Seventy-eight years ago, British, American, and Canadian troops landed on the beaches of Normandy, and began the liberation of Western Europe. It may be that a few of the men who landed and fought that day still live; living or dead, they should be remembered with all due honor.

A few years back, I did a weekly clinic at a Veterans Hospital. There was a page in the back of each medical dossier, describing their service, including the D-Day landings, and the raid on Dieppe. It was humbling, and a bit sad; these people were giants in their day, and now were old and frail.
