A Crime Victim

I ran into my neighbor across the corridor when we were both in the laundry room; he has a swollen face after someone jumped him in DC. He said that he had been to the hospital, and he has a broken maxillary bone that should recover in time, and also that his upper right teeth are numb; the nerve may also recover, or may have been severed. I hope the hoodlum who attacked him was caught on camera.

This led to discussion, and in response to his asking me, I told him about a time when I was a graduate student at UT Austin, and some drunken lout assaulted me when I was walking home from the library; I was not as badly injured as my neighbor.

I've never had a problem in DC, but I'm mostly in the Bethesda area when I'm in town at NIH.
