Patent Eleven Million

ndrosenA few weeks ago, the Patent Office issued U.S. Patent 11,000,000.
When I was hired in 1998, we weren’t even up to 6,000,000, so nearly half of all the patents we have issued were issued in the past twenty-three years. At this rate, it is likely that well before I retire, more than half of all U.S. patents will have been issued during my time as an examiner. I myself have only been involved in granting a few hundred patents, but there are several thousand other examiners doing their share.
