If the eighteen year real estate cycle holds good, we can expect another major recession around 2026. President Biden, his advisors, and his cabinet members are not Georgists, and are not taking effective action to prevent the next recession; instead, he and the Democratic Congress are going in for more regulation and trillions of dollars of new deficit spending, which I think is a very bad idea. Put these together, and there is a high risk of a severe recession combined with a loss of confidence in the dollar and U.S. government debt.

This is not only distressing in itself, but is likely to lead to Republican electoral success, perhaps in the 2024 or 2028 presidential election, perhaps in other elections, such as the 2026 midterms. Not so long ago, I would have considered this a good thing, but that was before the Party of Lincoln became the Personality Cult of Dishonest Donald. I do not want to see Trump as President again, nor some other demagogue following in his footsteps. I do not insist that everything which can go wrong, will, but I do think that the situation is worrisome.
