Nuclear Developments

On Tuesday, I spent a couple of hours listening to Tech Fair presentations, as continuing education for examiners. One was about virtual and augmented reality, but the second one, which was by a couple of people from TerraPower, was about new developments in nuclear power (and radioisotope manufacturing). There are confidentiality issues, so I’m not going to repeat all I heard, but there is a publicly accessible website for TerraPower, and also a website specifically regarding a particular kind of reactor, the Natrium reactor, that they’re working on.
I remember back when I was working toward my Ph.D. in Materials: as I recall, the Electric Power Research Institute was providing some funding to at least one of my professors, because they were concerned about corrosion in the alloy being used in nuclear reactors, Inconel, as I recall.
