Against the “American Jobs Act”
Apr. 7th, 2021 03:25 amI have written to my Senators in opposition to President Biden’s proposal to spend another couple of trillion dollars, this time on infrastructure, elder care, and special favors for labor unions. I would have written to Congressman Beyer as well, but his website proclaims that he has already come out in support. I do not want more government debt, higher tax rates (which do not always mean higher tax revenues), and ill-thought out spending. Meanwhile, the Biden Administration has rejected carbon emission taxes, which would actually make sense, and give people an incentive to be greener, in whatever ways made sense to them.
Last year, I had a Dreamwidth post titled “The Lesser Evil,” giving Joe Biden such praise as “Despite his senior moments, he hasn’t sunk that far into dementia,” “Some of his appointees won’t be grifters,” and “He won’t spend the country into bankruptcy as quickly.” That last may have been over optimistic.
