After Lindy’s talk on July 30, 2017, there was a Q&A session. Professor Nic Tideman said that monopoly means single seller, so land is not literally a monopoly. Then there was mention of banking.

Dan Sullivan said to Lindy Davies that Henry George disagreed with him (Davies) — my notes don’t make clear about what. Lindy Davies said that there are debatable points. He disagrees that only widgets should be traded, and thinks that the market should judge the value of services, money, etc.

Lindy Davies’s father-in-law left the New York rat race, took a bit of money to Maine, and raised sheep. With a Georgist economy, Lindy can’t believe that a hundred acres of Waldo County would cost much money.

There was an argument about the Law of the Sea, in which Alanna Hartzok participated (I presume she was in favor of it). If people mine nodules on the sea floor, under the Law of the Sea, 50% goes to the United Nations.
