The Red Queen’s Race
Sep. 13th, 2019 10:54 pmThis week, I got one amendment on my Amended docket, and posted an Examiner’s Answer for credit, my supervisor and the other conferee having signed it, thus removing the Appeal Brief from my Amended docket. Thus, I’m back to three cases, two on my Amended docket, and one on my Special Amended docket.
I finished a first action rejection on my oldest non-RCE Regular New case, and a first action rejection on my single Request for Continued Examination case. I have started a first action rejection on another Regular New, which I hope to finish by Monday at 3:00 PM.
I attended a meeting on Wednesday about some changes at the Patent Office. Starting in October, I will get an extra hour to work on a case with more than twenty-five claims total, or more than four independent claims, and also an extra hour for considering more than ten pages of Information Disclosure Statements from the applicant. That doesn’t mean more than ten pages of prior art patents or other literature cited by the applicant, but more than ten pages listing all the prior art documents. Still, it’s something, and these changes should make my job a little easier.
