Fireflies

Walking the last two blocks home this evening, I saw several fireflies; I also saw several little yellow flashes a few evenings ago. Fireflies seem to be less common now than they were when I was a child, and furthermore, I don’t often get out on a summer evening to look for them, so it’s good to know that the world still has fireflies.

At my last house, one if the things I miss is what I referred to as the “dance of the fireflies”. Most summer nights there was what appeared to be hundreds of fireflies, performing some beautifully choreographed dance, that I could watch from my back deck. That, plus starry nights, plus sunsets (and presumably sunrises which I rarely see) - all of that I will never get sick of, ever. ♥️
