Nat Hentoff, RIP
Jan. 9th, 2017 11:50 pmThe civil libertarian, contrarian, critic, and jazz enthusiast Nat Hentoff has died at the age of ninety-one.
I remember discovering his "Sweet Land of Liberty" column in the Washington Post many years ago, I think before I even moved to the Washington area; later, it moved to the Washington Times. It's something of a disappointment not to read what Hentoff would have to say about President Trump; on the other hand, perhaps a benevolent deity decided to spare him from seeing that creep in the Oval Office. Be that as it may, Hentoff spoke up for freedom, for many people's freedom whether he fully agreed with them or not, for many years, and deserves all due honor for that.
