Happy Hour and a Promotion
Oct. 17th, 2018 11:16 pm On Tuesday, the Art Unit, or some of its members, went out to drinks at the Trademark Grill. This had been for general socializing, but there was news that day, which had not been known when the happy hour was planned: one of the examiners had passed the program, and would now become a Primary Examiner. That means that she will be a GS-14 at a higher salary, will be able to sign her own work (with a couple of exceptions), and will have to churn out more Office actions. I congratulated her.
I drank a beer (Optimal Wit, as I recall), and became loquacious, talking about genetics, genetically modified organisms (I have no objection to modified crops), Greenpeace (guilty of crimes against humanity, in my opinion, for opposing Golden Rice and condemning people to blindness from vitamin A deficiency), and related matters. Then I excused myself, and went back to the office to do a little more work before heading home at 7:30.
