To continue with Dan Sullivan’s talk on July 30, 2017, Alan Ridley talked about breaking bread together; studies have shown that people are more productive if they eat with coworkers and chat, instead of gobbling a sandwich in front of the computer.

Dan Sullivan said that there was a demonstration of 400,000 people in New York City about climate change. People will talk about it for years, but what does it do? A rally isn’t tactics or strategy. Rich people like Soros, Al Gore, etc., support rallies, not a permanent lobby on Capitol Hill. Results come from sitting down with people who can deliver results.

Dan Sullivan said that he (or someone) gave out 50,000 pamphlets on “Where Was MLK Heading?” at the fiftieth anniversary of MLK’s March. These pamphlets had Georgist quotes and citizen’s dividend quotes from MLK, as well as quotes from Thomas Paine and others, and had Dan Sullivan’s contact information. He heard back from no one!

Rallies get people together. Then they need to get together in small groups, and meet regularly.

There was further discussion.

Dan Sullivan said that people want their little accomplishments, not a deep solution. The affordable housing people in Pittsburgh wanted money to play with to construct housing, and proposed a higher deed tax.

Dan showed up at the City Council, and said that it was the worst thing to do. People booed him. They didn’t want to learn economics, they didn’t want real solutions, they wanted money to play with.

Nader said that character is destiny, quoting Heraklides. Personality is decisive, as well. One needs a “Civic Personality,” and must be active, not despairing. One must have stamina and be engaged.
