A few days ago, I got a phone call with a recorded voice saying that Xfinity/Comcast was offering a promotion, and I should press one or two to hear more or speak with a customer service representative. I had received calls like this before, and answered at least once. I thought it was a scam. This time, I pressed a button, and got connected to someone. I asked how I could be sure that this was a genuine offer, or a scam to steal money or obtain private information from me.

The line went dead, confirming that these calls are not really from Xfinity.
