Political Alignment

Shikha Dalmia had an article in Reason on Bernie J. Trump, what the socialist left and Trumpian right have in common. Both are hostile to classical liberalism, peaceful, voluntary interaction with foreigners, and fiscal responsibility. I can hope that the political alignment will change, but for the moment, unlike when I came of age in the Reagan administration, no major party offers even an approximation of what I want.

If our two major parties agree on supporting bloated government, authoritarianism, and fiscal irresponsibility, disagreeing only on who should run things, and for whose benefit, things are likely to get very ugly.

I don’t want vote for Bernie and for Donald and for this case they don”t represent me. So, if they don’t care about my vote then I don’t care about them. Also, I don’t see what is ugly? Bipolar disorder by republicans and democrats?

What would be ugly would be for both major parties to be going in a direction I don’t like, with the country being harmed whichever of them was in power at the moment. Let Social Security and Medicare go broke, with each side blaming the other, and things could really go to Hades in a handbasket.

When Baby Boomers will retire then Social Security and Medicare will be broken for sure and both major parties will failed to address this issue indeed. As a result - Civil War? Third World War? Who knows? Some people ready go to Mars and let rest of people take care of broken country...
