I got out of bed in the middle of the night because of GI tract issues. Then I spent a substantial amount of time cleaning the bathroom. Then I spent the day in bed, and mostly asleep. At 7:00 PM I participated (minimally) in a teleconference meeting of the Schalkenbach Foundation Board of directors.

Then I had a dilemma: On the one hand, I was hungry, and on the other hand, I was queasy. Should I attempt to eat anything? I compromised, putting some miso in water, pouring in some noodles, and heating the broth. I figured I could at least drink the broth, and then eat as many noodles as I felt up to. I was cautious, but I did eat and drink the whole bowl of soup, and I feel tolerably well.

I'm still going to stay home tomorrow. I left a message on my supervisor's voicemail (it's a federal holiday), telling him I was ill, and asking him to notify an attorney with whom I had a telephone interview scheduled for Tuesday at 11:00 AM that I wouldn't be able to make it.

It isn't quite the Martian Death Flu, despite the way I felt at 5:00 AM, but I don't want to overstrain myself, or to expose others more than I can reasonably help.

I'm glad you are feeling better and congratulate you on your noodle-soup tactic.

I'm glad you're feeling some better, but you may want to be more cautious for a while.
