Twenty-Fifth Amendment, Anyone?

If this story is true, and I admit that so far, I don't know, then Donald Trump, aside from his other faults, is becoming forgetful, and losing what mental capacity he had. This has serious implications if true.

So far, VP Pence and the Cabinet have not gone to Congress with a declaration that the President has become incapacitated. Will that day come? Will Trump loyalists continue to stand in the way? Is his degree of incapacity exaggerated? Will things muddle along, while Trump continues to be able to read a teleprompter and tweet insults against Kim Jong Eun, even if he has difficulty in recognizing old acquaintances and remembering what he said five minutes before?

There could be interesting times ahead.

I'm waiting to see how much of the rest of the cabinet gets swept up in a RICO indictment.

I'm inclined to doubt it on the grounds that there is no accusation against Trump so improbable that a journalist will not eagerly print it.

In fairness, there's a large audience rewarding them for providing that stuff.

There are, as you say, reasons to doubt it; another reason is that the author, Michael Wolff, has a reputation for being unreliable. It might be true or halfway true nonetheless. One reason to think so is that the book seems to have struck a nerve, and triggered Trump's anger against Wolff and against Stephen Bannon.

It seems unlikely to me that things are as bad as that story portrays them to be. I'm inclined to think that there's some truth behind it though. If you listen to recordings of him speaking, he seems to trail off in mid-sentence like he's lost track of what he intended to say too often for comfort and at other times he just doesn't make sense. I don't think that's because he's just bad at public speaking.

I think it is telling that he's having a physical today but without the mental health screening that is commonly done when examining people at his age.
