SmartHome

Thursday, while I was at work, workmen came to my apartment to replace the old-fashioned lock with an electronic lock, requiring me to remember another six digit number, and also installed other stuff, turning my apartment into a SmartHome. When I got back after working late, I found the new installations; fortunately, I was able to access my WiFi and download my emails from outside the apartment, so I was able to learn the code, and use it let myself in.

The dishwasher seems to have been replaced, and the plates, bowls, flatware, and so on I had left therein had been rearranged haphazardly. I wanted the stuff clean, so I ran the dishwasher again, and meanwhile reheated the last of the black bean chili with guacamole, which I ate out of the one bowl which had not been in the dishwasher. I made a small salad without leaves, and ate it off of a small plate.

The dishwasher has finished, so I was able to take out some clean dishes, and put the things from dinner in the washer. I have slept, and now I’ll take a shower and sleep some more. I have an appointment with the optometrist for Friday morning.

When we renovated, the architect tried to convince us to make a smart home (I think the fancy term is demiotics, but might be confusing that with something else). That was a hard no! from me, considering how unreliable electronics aren't.
