Phone Calls
Mar. 28th, 2022 12:46 amLast week, I got a call from a woman (who didn’t seem to be a native speaker of English, although her accent was not Indian) from “Liberty Financial,” assuming that I needed help with my debts. I told her that I was solvent, and asked her to place me on their do not call list. The week before that, I had received a similar call from someone claiming to be from “Global Something.” I’m not sure of the second word.
I wonder whether I got on some list of people believed to be in financial difficulties, or they’re calling every number there is, pretty much. Anyway, I’d advise being skeptical about callers like this, even if you are in debt.

Date: 2022-03-28 04:06 pm (UTC)My oldest call from them is 9/26/18, the most recent is 1/17/22. Maybe they've given up. I never received anything in the mail about this, so good riddance.
I had a bankruptcy some 20 years ago that was discharged, it was during a time of really bad unemployment for me, and somehow some of that discharged debt was incorrectly sold on for collection. I received one call about it, explained that it had been discharged, provided them the case number, and that was that. I looked up the phone number this call is coming from, and it seems to be a skeevy collector, I suspect they bought some of that debt and are hoping I'll call and they can start hammering me.
