I wished a couple of people a happy Asimov’s birthday today, and explained that Isaac Asimov was born on January 2, 1920.

The farmers’ market was open this morning, so I was able to replenish my supply of quality apple cider, and buy arugula, apples, pears, apple butter, and purple potatoes.

On January 1, I had a little beer with supper. Many moons ago, I bought six bottles of Leffe Blond, of which two remained. I checked, and their “best by” date isn’t for a few months yet, so I opened one of the bottles, and poured about half of the beer into a glass. I’m not a huge beer drinker, and Leffe has a rather high alcohol content. It was good, flavorful beer, which I enjoyed drinking. Now if only I could find some Leffe Brun, which I like even better.

We're not big beer drinkers, I mainly use it in cooking red chili. In '15 before we went to Germany, astronomy friends of my wife who go there somewhat often said we had to find some good Radler. It's a lager combined with a lemon beer that's low alcohol and very flavorful. You can find it with several different citrus flavors. I had chilled one for NYE but never got around to pouring it, maybe I'll get a pizza over the weekend and enjoy it. But we found it in Germany and with one exception, uniformly loved it!
