A Day Off

I participated in an online Georgist discussion this afternoon, and I got to sleep in this morning. I did do a little work, and I tried to catch up on some reading.

When I took my afternoon walk, I met a woman walking two dogs, Copper and Sophia. Copper jumped up on my leg to greet me, and then Sophia sat down in front of me to be petted and petted. The woman explained that Sophia is a therapy dog, and takes her duties very seriously.

For dinner, I finished off a dish that I originally made Tuesday, chickpeas cooked with eggplant, tomatoes, kale, and more, and spiced with cumin and harissa. This is something that I made several times last year, but not recently.

The world needs more Sophias. An astronomer from Chicago(?) who used to frequent my wife's observatory had a Grand Pyrenees who was a monster-sized dog (absolutely lovely), also a therapy dog. He'd drive up to the hospital, the people would great him, the dog would jump out of his truck and then just walk in, owning the place. He'd come back in a couple of hours and pick him up.

Can't imagine how much food those eat. We met some people walking three of them when we were in Dresden.
