I have read that some Trumpublicans are calling for the Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo, to be impeached. This is not just because she’s a Biden appointee, or because there are legitimate reasons to criticize policies in which she is involved, like trying to grow the economy by handing over billions of dollars in subsidies to chip makers or other favored industries.

No, her sin in their eyes is that she allegedly played an important part in resisting Russian aggression against Ukraine by figuring out which American exports were very useful to the Russian military and the industries upon which it depends, and cutting off Russia’s supplies of those products. If true, I consider this commendable on her part, and it surely tells us something appalling about the far right that they would consider assisting a free country in resisting Putin’s aggression to be grounds to impeach an American public official.

Gina Raimondo is my boss’s boss’s boss’s boss, so I don’t get to meet with her directly, but if I ever get the chance, I will express my gratitude for her genuine public service in helping to halt the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Slava Ukraini, heroiam slava!
My ladyfriend Cynthia sent me a link, https://cpb-us-w2wpmucdn.com/campuspress.yale.edu/dist/7/272/files/2022/10/Statement-of1.pdf to a statement to the House select committee on the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol, written by a pair of professors. Notable points in the statement are that Trump was guilty of incitement, and that the Trumpist movement is not merely populist, but literally fascist. This seems sound to me.
