In addition to walking up stairs and doing push-ups and crunches, I’ve been trying to do more walking this week. There was an article in
Science News, which I read on Monday, saying that people who take fewer than 4000 steps per day have much higher death rates than those who do more than that, and especially than those who do more than 10,000. I’ve walked in the neighborhood, and I’ve done a bit of exploring, taking a path which I don’t think I had ever walked on before, and heading north through a park and then walking alongside Washington Boulevard.
I haven’t been out to any restaurants since the current mess began, or ordered food either, but today I did. Having previously walked to the supermarket, and a bit beyond, checking on one of my favorite restaurants, and walking back, later in the day, I ordered dinner from
Thai Square. I got some exercise walking and jogging three quarters of a mile or so to pick it up, and then walking back.
Once home, I dined on Pad Thai, then a salad I had made for myself, then a dessert of black beans, sweet rice, and coconut cream. It may not have been quite as good as if I had eaten it in the restaurant (now closed for dining) without delay, but it was still a break from the food I cook for myself.
