Mental “Illness” and Politics

My fellow reader of Thomas Szasz, Jacob Sullum has a piece in Reason magazine online about the dubious value of diagnosing Donald Trump, whom I have referred to as the Narcissistic Personality Disorder poster boy. Granted that his behavior is a good match for the symptoms of this so-called personality disorder, that doesn’t mean that he or others like him have a literal disease. Or, if there is an actual brain lesion or chemical imbalance behind their behavior, then they have a physical illness, not a mental illness.
