Reagan’s Lost Speech

Reason has a speech written for Ronald Reagan to deliver on the eve of the 1980 election, but in the event never delivered, and probably never read by Reagan. It’s a pity; although I am not one hundred percent in agreement, I find it eloquent, and a clear expression of classical liberal views and values.

I wish that Mr. Reagan had spoken those words to the American people, and wish more fervently that his actual administration had been more nearly in accordance with the sentiments and proposals expressed therein.
