On Wednesday, when I was teleworking (in general for the day) and trying to get something done in the kitchen (right then, between my morning and evening shifts), the phone rang. I went to the trouble of picking it up, heard that Xfinity was offering promotions, and pressed 1 to speak with a representative, “Spencer.” Spencer, who from his accent was more likely to be named Amitabh or Ramesh, asked whether I used Comcast/Xfinity for television. I told him no, I don’t have a working television set.
Then he asked about telephone and Internet service, which I confirmed. He asked how much I was paying. I replied, “If you’re really with Xfinity, you should be able to find out.”
He asked for a minute, and I heard a click. A little later, I heard another click, probably the call being ended.
I went back to what I had been doing.
