Reason Roundup contains a link just above the bottom to an article at Bloomberg about a possible repeat of 2008. You don’t even have to be a Georgist to be concerned about the trend in real estate prices.
I got a scam call Tuesday morning, telling me someone was coming to my house to give me a check for two million dollars. The caller commented that I didn’t sound very happy; that was because I didn’t expect to get the money. I played along, so long as it didn’t cost me anything, but told him that if he tried to extract my Social Security number or something, I would hang up. The caller gave me a code in letters and numbers, which I would supposedly need to cash the check; I wrote it down, and made sure sure I had all the letters right.

Then he told me I would need to buy a $200 “claimer’s card” at Walmart, so I told him it was a scam, and hung up.

He called again — at least, I presume it was he — and when he heard my answering machine, he hung up. Then he called yet again, and this time left a message on the machine, with a number to call. I didn’t call back, but I did provide the phone number and a description of the attempted fraud to the Federal Trade Commission: https://Reportfraud.ftc.gov.
