I got an After Final amendment and request for reconsideration on my Expedited docket yesterday. I did Office Action on two of the three amendments on my Amended docket; I also worked on the third, and called the attorney to see whether something mutually acceptable could be worked out. After a full and frank exchange of views, as the diplomats call it, he said he would talk with his client, but he didn’t expect the client to be satisfied with my suggestions, so I will most likely end up writing a full Final Rejection for the applicant to consider. I made several attempts to reach the attorney for the Expedited case, since a (non-allowance) response to an After Final filed under the After Final Consideration Program 2.0 normally calls for an interview, but I haven’t heard back from him.

In consequence, I’m now at two amendments in total: a regular amendment on my Amended docket, and an After Final on my Expedited docket. I have also started working on one of my Regular New cases.
I have long been a fan of Wiley’s Non Sequitur, and Thursday’s comic strip is worth a look. I suspect that the father was a Georgist who tried to tell a benighted world that the latest speculative bubble in land prices was worse than any previous bubble, and would have very serious consequences.
