EARN IT Act, and P.J. O’Rourke

A few days ago, I posted about my opposition to the EARN IT Act; now here’s an explanation of what’s wrong with it. I haven’t heard back from Congressman Beyer (the bill has passed the Senate, and is now before the House), but I received an email from one of my senators, saying that he is in favor of protecting children, and therefore voted for the bill. Sigh.

P.J. O’Rourke is no longer with us, may he rest in peace. He said, among other things, that giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys. My response to that was that he was being unfair to some teenage boys.

And now, to begin work.

I read of PJ's passing yesterday morning. Very sad, he was an excellent humorist and political observer.

Gotta protect the children! Even if the bill doesn't do it!
