Eight years ago, during D.D.'s 1st run for Prez, my XO was a rapid anti-Hillary Clinton right-winger. We signed him up as a supporter, even made a donation "by him." It was a never ending source of fun watching him hover on a blast of indignation every time her name came up, or he got an email from her campaign.
