Mass Murder by Governments

A majority of the human beings who died by violence over the course of the twentieth century were not murdered by private-sector muggers and hoodlums, and were not killed in war, despite the death tolls of World War One, World War Two, and some other unpleasantnesses; they were killed by their own governments, or by other governments controlling or trying to control the territories where they lived. I recommend reading David Kopel’s rather brief post on the matter, especially the final paragraph.
